This movie reminds me of summer vacations. Because that's when I watched it and it is one of the finest memories I have. Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhat rocked this Bollywood version of It happened one night. This movie had everything a good masala movie in India demands - a good hollywood script, modified suitably to desi sensitivities, cheeky comedy and some very nice songs.

I have liked Anuradha Paudwal only because my mom, at that time, thought she was good. And I liked everything my mom likes when it comes to music. In the years that have gone by, discussing music with mom, I have noticed that we don't miss Anuradha ji as much and there are just occasional references. It means a big deal. :-)

Anuradha Paudwal does have her strengths as a singer and there are some gems that she has sung. This is one of them.

I heard my voice after a very long time and I thought, maybe it is time to close this blog. Still, I never really close it, do I? So here you go.. :-)

A very simple melody..But it does the job..It is such a simple song that even I could get the hang after just one hearing..(It usually takes a few). I remember Jagjit Singh ji's concert I attended in Pune a couple of years back. He started with this song and set the pace of a memorable night.

I enjoyed singing this.

This movie definitely captured the imagination of a generation. The very very young, pre-teen me was fascinated by the songs of this movie not knowing at that time that most of the songs were unabashedly inspired. I distinctly remember how my mom and relatives would make me sing Dil Deewana and would have a hearty laugh on the line Yeh Pagla hai. Things people do with kids! I reckon I used to sound a little funny when I would say "pagla".

Coming to Aate Jaate, there is something very very special about this song. Yeah it is one of the inspired ones. But still I am amazed how romantic a simple tune like this sounds. With all due respects, I even prefer Aate jaate over the original "I just called to say". This still is an anthem for all the hearts in love out there. :-) Someday, I would like to sing this for that someone special - andekha, anjana sa koi. ;-)

I was just humming this the other day. I just thought I will post it..I have not been very consistent with the lyrics (I think that is intentional)..I have not even sung the complete song. So just hear it in that spirit.. :-)

This is one of the most innocent songs. Something stirs deep within. This is close to heart for more reasons than one..I hope you like it.. :-)

Very soulful lyrics, amazingly sung by Jagjit Singh ji..Ghazal is a tough genre..It relies more on the emotions the singer is able to bring out. Jagjit Singh ji scores massively because he has this deep, soothing voice which touches those deeper corners of your heart.

If there has ever been a voice that can pierce my heart completely, it would be Mohammad Rafi ji's. And make any list of music directors, Naushad ji would be in the top 3. So what we have is an unbeatable combination. This song has been a childhood fav and I still stop and listen to this song everytime I hear it.

I usually do not mention the actors in a song because for me a song is music director and singer's property. But Dilip Kumar has been wonderful in this song. Do hear the original one whenever you can.

One of the most bundle movie I ever saw! But the music was excellent. While the stealer in this album was "Ghar se nikalte hi", I find "Pyar mein hota" even better. I feel this one should have been publicized more. We are living in strange times where the definition of good songs has been reduced to dance numbers thanks to Himesh Rehamiya and his nasal factory. The light music aspect has taken a beating.

Gulzar saab at his mighty best..I still don't understand half the song..hehe...Lata ji emotes like no one else...Specially when she sings "Yeh rudali jaisi ratein jagraton mein bita dena"..Be careful with your expectations of my rendition! The multi talented Vishal Bharadwaj creates wonders in this album..

Well,

I wanted this to be in wordpress. But they do not allow mp3 widgets. Well, that is what this whole blog is about. Mp3s! You see, I wanted to maintain a blog where I could post some of my attempts with some of the most beautiful songs I ever heard.

The intention is not to cause any kind of trauma to anyone. It is just that, my computer is full of my songs and the internet offers a lot of free space. So just want to utilize that.

I appreciate your coming here. And I appreciate you all the more if you are coming back.
